Our client, a recognized world leader in the manufacturing of vehicle solutions is currently seeking a Chief Engineer - Acoustics & Vibrations to work in our Corporate Research and Development group.
The person selected for this position will be responsible for the Noise and Vibration Testing and Analysis of Commercial Vehicle Products, and will lead the development of the next generation solutions, provide noise and vibration problem identification and solution(s), interface with customer regarding acoustics and vibration issues and concerns, lead the development of the new acoustics laboratory, coordinate testing and development programs including production, optimize existing designs and products for improved acoustics and vibration performance, analyze and interpret acoustics and vibration test data as well as present to management and cross functional groups, identify, plan and conduct acoustics and vibration testing considering present and future needs of the organization.
Ideal candidates will have an MS degree (PhD preferred) in Vibration and Acoustics Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering, 8 - 15 years or more of relevant work experience preferably in the commercial vehicle or automotive industry, strong theoretical and practical experience in vibration and acoustics including design and testing, high analytical ability for solving difficult or unusual problems, demonstrated understanding in acoustics and vibration instrumentation and processing equipment, and be proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Should also have the ability to assist in the development, assignment, prioritization and implementation of projects and programs, possess excellent written and oral communication skills along with demonstrated ability to lead projects independently as well as work in a team environment, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally (must have a valid passport or be passport eligible).
Candidates who are proficient in computer applications such as MATLAB, LabView and/or FEA/SEA/BEM/SysNoise, and who have training in Mueller BBM, Bruel & Kjaer, LMS, and/or Head Acoustics analysis software, and knowledge and experience regarding Aerodynamics and/or Thermodynamics will be given preference.
