Our client, a recognized world leader in the manufacturing of vehicle solutions is currently seeking a Chief Engineer - Industrial Design / Human Factors for their team to perform analysis of psychological/ consumer data, human/seat biomechanical interaction, human/vehicle ergonomic and packaging interaction for internal comfort studies and external reports, design comfort studies for programs and innovate new methods according to best statistical and scientific practices, present research findings and developments, and philosophy to customers and the scientific community.
Selected applicants should be skilled in occupant biomechanics, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of consumer comfort data, ergonomic evaluation of potential seating system designs in concept/CAD stages, possess a strong technical background in Human Factors and related analytical skills, strong communication skills and ability to create and deliver formal presentations, proficient with analysis and interpretation of data, and able to evaluate adv. materials, foams, dynamic and static structures and mechanisms comfort impact.
Ideal candidates will have the ability to use both current and future BPD systems and software, distinguishing good data from bad, knowledge of SAE HADD-related specs (J826, J1100, J4001, J2732) & FMVSS applications of H-pt, anthropometry and its proper application in Digital Human Modeling, CAD systems, formats, VR applications and DHM applications, perceptual and experimental psychology and Human Factors methodologies, and ability in statistics, quality control systems, and Six Sigma/ DOE/ DFSS methodologies. Will also have knowledge of previously-developed ComforTec methods and templates, an understanding of biomechanics and non-linear mechanical systems, ability in programming and algorithm development in various languages, and familiarity with seating system design, pressure mapping, and knowledge of the automotive industry.
BS Degree in Design, Engineering or Experimental Psychology / Human Factors required as is proven experience in related field using current accepted practices. Master's degree preferred. Knowledge of Alias, Delmia V5 Human, and surveys, industrial design concepts, seat concepts, interior concepts, exterior concepts, package studies, and human machine interface designs preferred.
